1. Suru (Trad. Arr.

Northern Finnish folk song learned from a choir record
then promptly monkeyed with. Same version that appeared
on the '96 Midnight
Apparitions CD.

Ostrobothnian polka learned from folk group Pirnales,
then fused with my own lyrics and melody.
4-track cassette demo.
3. The Bitter Cup (I
Drink Today) (Simpson)
Written in Pori, Finland 9/96. A liberal rephrasing
of the Kalevala's "Origin of Beer."
4-track cassette demo.
4. Tang of Seaweed
(Simpson)
Written in 8/86; inspired by Tove Jansson's books.
4-track cassette demo.

According to Wilhelm Hedlund (Trad.)
Swedish folk melody learned (again) from the Finns in Pirnales.
4-track cassette demo.
6. Gone Gone Gone
(Simpson)
Written 6/95, a distant reference to the Kalevala's Ahti.
Same version appeared on Midnight
Apparitions.
